ARTIST BIO
Alex Lithgow
I began my art journey taking classes under Carolyn Lyford Catalano in soft pastel at the age of 8. Never losing any interest, I continued my art education through high school, took up oil panting through a class at the SAIC, and went on to take a number of art classes mainly in painting and drawing towards an art minor at Vanderbilt University. Along the way, I continued exploring art on my own and have mainly focused on oil paint, pastel, and charcoal.
I find myself constantly noticing art in nature and in the people and creatures I meet. I am inspired by color and the way light influences it and creates contrast. I have always been drawn towards capturing likeness through portraiture and I’m grateful that my life path has allowed me to continue pursuing this curiosity. Art continues to inspire me and allow for my personal growth. I thank you for considering me for your commission and allowing me an opportunity to do what I love!
